Can anyone help me with my computer?

I have Internet problems, specifically Adware / malware / spyware (I know is not everyone). I used the Windows Live OneCare and it actually worked. To eliminate everything that is causing the pop ups and slowing certain sites. However, since they have no virus protection (through a Verizon lot!) What happened back. I need some advice on what to do. Need insurance, free, powerful, open, genuine, free of malware / adware / spyware / virus remover. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
