Helpppppppppp! I do not want to spend money again, how do I get rid of Norton AntiVirus and viruses?!?

I remembered that because I have Comcast internet, I McAfee AntiVirus free, so I downloaded. However, you can not download completely (I do not detect viruses of all things!) Because I still have an old version of Norton AntiVirus on my computer. The Auto-Protect will not, no matter how often they treat me so I'm ready to get rid of it. The problem is I need the original CD to get it off my computer. I got it! I really need to rid my computer of viruses, quick! Is there any way to do this without the CD? Please help! Also, if I can do that, I want to download McAfee again to run the scan, but I fear that my system could become infected by System Restore. Apparently I'm supposed to turn off System Restore, restart in Safe mode, run the analysis, then turn on the computer, and a System Restore again. How can I do this? I need detailed answers, please help!
